Cabela's -- Retail Stores
CABELA'S PLANNING TO BUILD MEGA-STORE
IN EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.
SIDNEY, NE - Cabela's, the World's Foremost Outfitter of hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, announced that it is in negotiations to build one of its world-famous retail stores at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, N.J.
Experience a Cabela's Retail Store. Check out our store Photo Gallery and our Video Tour.
Map of New Jersey The store, part of the Meadowlands Xanadu sports, leisure, family entertainment and shopping complex, would be similar in size to the Cabela's retail showroom in Kansas City, Kan. and Buda, Texas.
The Meadowlands store would be built in Cabela's trademark style mixing a décor of museum-quality animal displays with colorful dioramas, huge aquariums stocked with native fish and a centerpiece indoor mountain displaying trophy animals interacting in realistic re-creations of their natural habitats. Cabela's retail stores are known as top-notch education and entertainment destinations, many of which are the leading tourist attractions in their respective states.
To operate the new store, Cabela's would expect to employ as many as 500 people, who would join the Cabela's family of more than 8,000 employees. Employees are expected to come from East Rutherford and the surrounding area to join Cabela's family of staff members famous for their outdoor lifestyle and intimate knowledge of outdoor products.
"By combining everything the Cabela's retail experience offers with the excitement of the Meadowlands Xanadu complex, we can create the premier destination for sporting enthusiasts along the East Coast," said Cabela's President and Chief Executive Officer Dennis Highby. "We believe Cabela's is the perfect fit to bring the outdoors to the Meadowlands and with so many valued customers who live the Cabela's lifestyle nearby, we would expect this retail store to be an overwhelming success."
"So many people are coming together to make this work," Highby said. "We really appreciate the efforts of all the people, including the Mills Corporation and all the others who are working to make this happen."That's a lot closer than Hamburg Pa.

Happy Fourth...
Burn Meat, Drink, Parades, Beach, Illegal Fireworks hoarded since stocking up after the 4th last year, and some shooting on Sunday. All the kids will be down with their significant others. Stimulus Check showed up finally so I may do some Browning Hi-Power searching too. A double Cialis and I'm good to go.

Comment of the Day...
Baroness Sarah Ludford MEP has a latter in today's FT condemning, "the infuriatingly stupid claim by French foreign minister Bernard Kouchner that" he did not understand the workings of EU institutions. She put it on a par with the "boast during the referendum campaign by Ireland's EU Commissioner Charlie McCreevey and premier Brian Cowen that they had not read the Lisbon treaty".She says these are attempts "to pose as populist 'one of the boys' or an admission that they are not fit to occupy [their] positions". She goes onto give a breakdown of the EU's workings in around ten lines, suggesting she may be right in her assertion that people in power across Europe, "ought to do better than my five-minute effort", when trying to understand the institutions they supposedly govern.
Here is what she said:
The European Union consists of 27 states which share some powers in a bid to deliver a secure, just, prosperous and sustainable future for their 500m citizens, and stability and progress in the world. The European Commission, consisting of former national politicians, draws up proposals for laws and helps implement and enforce them. Those laws are decided by MEPs, who are directly elected to the European parliament every five years, jointly with ministers of national governments comprising the Council. The latter also makes foreign and other policy decisions. National MPs scrutinise or call to account the activities of their governments in the Council. The European Court of Justice rules on the interpretation and claims of breach of EU law

I just can't help myself...
I've only done it once before. But I have to do it again.
Awesome.
The first one is a scan of a Blue Press catalog I received, the second found deep deep in the archives of Theo Spark.
Helicopter Money...
The stimulus check showed up today. I am reminded of Evita throwing money to the peons from a train. In modern America we would use a helicopter.I've got three purchase permits on the way.
I wish I could find a Browning Hi-Power in a gun store somewhere...I don't like buying guns on the Intertubes, altho I've purchased several. My Mak and SKS for two...both good buys.
Joke of the Day...
CONCERNED ABOUT TOO MANY CARBS IN YOUR DIET?For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.
1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
CONCLUSION
Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you!
Got my quarterly test results back. Cholesterol down around 150 and my sugar averaging 90. No prostrate or kidney problems. Good.
Stroke update: The muscle pains I've had the past month or so are fading unless I do something exotic. As my control comes back, muscles I haven't used in a while were (and some still are) screaming. I guess I am too close to the problem, cuz a guy I've worked with off and on for over a year didn't know I had a stroke. It still feels rocky on this end tho.

WALL-E
I liked it a lot. It was fast moving and entertaining.I note that some reviews were fixated on the destruction of the earth (death by garbage), and the de-evolution of the human race (American types only shown)...altho the fatties aren't slow to show courage when it's needed.
They never mention the eager return to earth by the fatties and the end credit history of reclaiming the planet. Some people are just too blinded by ideology to just relax and enjoy the story.
WALL-E himself is pretty timid, keeps running over his pet cockroach, and EVE shoots first and never checks the results. Gotta love it.
It was worth seeing.
My only question. At the beginning of the movie, it shows many of the giant resort ships being launched, but only one was visited by WALL-E. While each ship holds what seems to be 10s of thousands, I wonder if the remaining ships will ever return to Earth...or if they even still exist.

Hell(er) YES
The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditional lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home. Some points to ponder gleaned off of comments and commentary:
Because Heller conceded at oral argument that the D. C. licensing law is permissible if it is not enforced arbitrarily and capriciously, the Court assumes that a license will satisfy his prayer for relief and does not address the licensing requirement. Assuming he is not disqualified from exercising Second Amendment rights, the District must permit Heller to register his handgun and must issue him a license to carry it in the home. Basically, said they have to have a shall-issue program.
They also address the idea of only those guns that were around at the writing of the Amendment. Scalia specifically says that is not the case.
Obama will issue a statement supporting the minority opinion. McCain will issue a statement supporting the majority opinion.
Scalia correctly interpreted the 2nd amendment to secure an individual right to bear arms, invalidated the D.C. gun ban, but declined to specify a level of scrutiny for regulations of gun ownership. In other words, the opinion will probably lead to striking down blanket bans like D.C.'s and Chicago's, but we have no idea what the court will do in cases with less complete gun bans.
The Dissent:
Justice John Paul Stevens wrote a dissent, which was joined by Justices Stephen Breyer, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and David Souter. Stevens said the majority "would have us believe that over 200 years ago, the Framers made a choice to limit the tools available to elected officials wishing to regulate civilian uses of weapons." The precedent was 150 years of individual rights- the other side has just held sway for the last 75.
I am profoundly disappointed in Justice Roberts and Justice Alito, both of whom assured us of their respect for precedent. With this decision, 70 years of precedent has gone out the window. And I believe the people of this great country will be less safe because of it. - Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif. Tough Luck you Gun Grabbing Bitch
JUSTICE BREYER moves on to make a broad jurisprudential point: He criticizes us for declining to establish a level of scrutiny for evaluating Second Amendment restrictions. He proposes, explicitly at least, none of the traditionally expressed levels (strict scrutiny, intermediate scrutiny, rational basis), but rather a judge-empowering "interestbalancing inquiry" that "asks whether the statute burdens a protected interest in a way or to an extent that is out of proportion to the statute'’s salutary effects upon other important governmental interests." Leave it just to judges - I don't think so.
The PushBack:
Just so you know what we are up against, check out the complete list of pro- and anti-gun legislation pending in the 110th Congress. While not all are bad, check out the new AWB HR1022. Say goodbye to shotguns.
If you need a reason to vote for McLame, consider that this was a 5-4 decision, and whomever is in next will probably appoint 2 - 3 justices. Do you trust Obonga to appoint justices who would support the 2A.
Say Uncle has tons of posts on Heller, with puns
including this update. Holy Crap!

Mayan Calendar...
For those of you new agers interested in the Mayan Calendar, here is a site that will covert any date into Mayan. Here is the start of a webtoon that covers the Calendar in a long arc.

Personally, I just think the calendar will reset, as it's internal sections have done.
It almost seems like SCOTUS is using the Mayan Calendar to release it's decision on Heller, the first gun case to hit the Supremes since the '30s. Com'mon already. This is like waiting in the delivery room. I ain't waiting 'til 2012.
Update: Heller affirmed. After 127 years, SCOTUS has affirmed that gun ownership is an individual right. No more militia crapola.

Hence the term...
Playing Possum.
Just before bed I take the mooch out for his evening wizz in the back yard and he starts barking to beat hell over near the side fence...enough that my wife comes out to see what's up.
I go in for a flashlight and hand it to her.
OMYGOD, it's a dead baby possum.
No it ain't
OMYGOD, get a bag and throw it in the trash
Wait a bit
OMYGOD, if you wait it'll be full of maggots
Take the mooch in and wait a bit
Sure enough...dead baby possum to live streak of fur in the blink of an eye.
Hence the term.
Excellent job tho. Eyes open and glazed, tongue hanging out. Pretty impressive for a first try, I expect. Fooled the dog, fooled the wife. Me, I was just lazy enough to want to throw it in the trash in the morning...so instead I got to look like I was some kind of BeastMaster of the Jersey Shore.
Joke of the day...
Jose & Carlos are panhandlers...They panhandlein different areas of town. Carlos panhandles
just as long as Jose, but only collects $2 to
$3 everyday.
Jose brings home a suitcase FULL of $10 bills,
drives a Mercedes, lives in a mortgage free house
& has a lot of money to spend.
Carlos says to Jose 'I work just as long & hard
as you do but how do you bring home a suitcase
full of $10 bills everyday?'
Jose says, .....'Look at your sign, what does
it say'?
Carlos sign reads 'I have no work, a wife & 6
kids to support.'
Jose says ' No wonder you only get $2-3
dollars.'
Carlos says...'So what does your sign say'?
Jose shows Carlos his sign......It reads, 'I
only need another $10 to move back to Mexico.'

The Ever popular Rules of Gunfighting...all services edition
USMC Rules For Gun Fighting1. Bring a gun. Preferably, bring at least two guns. Bring all of your friends who have guns. Bring their friends who have guns.
2. If you can, make friends with those on the crew served weapons. Bring them as well. Borrow money from them, it gives them an added incentive to protect you.
3. Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Ammo is cheap. Life is expensive.
4. Only hits count. Close doesn't count. The only thing worse than a miss is a slow miss.
5. If your shooting stance is good, you're probably not moving fast enough nor using cover correctly.
6. Move away from your attacker. Distance is your friend. (Lateral and diagonal movement are preferred.)
7. If you can choose what to bring to a gunfight, bring a long gun and a friend with a long gun.
8. In ten years nobody will remember the details of caliber, stance, or tactics. They will only remember who lived and who didn't.
9. If you are not shooting, you should be communicating (calling for arty or air support), reloading, and running.
10. Accuracy is relative: most combat shooting is more dependent on "pucker factor" than the inherent accuracy of the gun.
11. Use a gun that works EVERY TIME. "All skill is in vain when an Angel pisses in the flintlock of your musket."
12. Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.
13. In combat, there are no rules, always cheat; always win. The only unfair fight is the one you lose.
14. Have a plan.
15. Have a back-up plan, because the first one won't work.
16. Have a back-up, back-up plan in case CentCom or SecDef finds the first two plans "unacceptable".
17. Use cover or concealment as much as possible. The only visible target should be in your gun sights.
18. Flank your adversary when possible. Protect your flank.
19. Don't drop your guard.
20. Always tactical load and threat scan 360 degrees.
21. Watch their hands. Hands kill. (In God we trust. Everyone else, keep your hands where I can see them).
22. Decide to be aggressive ENOUGH, quickly ENOUGH.
23. The faster you finish the fight, the less shot you will get.
24. Be polite. Be professional. But have a plan to kill everyone you meet.
25. Be courteous to everyone, friendly to no one.
26. Your number one Option for Personal Security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.
27. Do not attend a gunfight with a handgun, the caliber of which does not start with a "4."
Army Rules for Gun Fighting
1. See USMC Rules to gun Fighting.
2. Add 60 to 90 days.
3. Hope the Marines already destroyed all meaningful resistance.
Navy Rules for Gun Fighting
1. Adopt an aggressive offshore posture.
2. Send in the Marines.
3. Drink Coffee and eat donuts.
Air Force Rules for Gun Fighting
1. Kiss the wife goodbye.
2. Drive to the base in your sports car.
3. Fly to target area, drop bombs, (try not to hit the Canuks) fly back to your home base.
4. BBQ some burgers and drink beer in your back yard, and talk shit about the Navy, Army and Marines.

Hopey Change...
Certainly some Change.I can't say I ever remember a president designing his own imperial seal...much less just a candidate.
Something a bit creepy about that.

This guy is totally unready to be a Senator, much less President, he is the product of the most corrupt state government in the country, a hard leftist, just another lying politician, and he is obviously, to anyone who looks, a devotee of black liberation theology. But with the backing and willful blindness of the press, he can get away with anything.
Update: Seal dropped after much laughing.
