Toes up....
Air America has gone belly up and Frank sums it up nicely for me.
A bankrupt and discredited radio network serving a bankrupt and discredited ideology serving as press flacks for a bankrupt and discredited party.
My comments: I had said it before on this blog. Who wants to listen to such negativity all day? They weren't very funny and all; but they had one serious fault which became apparent very quickly and foreshadowed their end from the get go. They were not honest with their listeners. While you can hear Rush and Hannity rage at the stupidity of the Republicans every day on winger radio - the progressive Democrat could do no wrong on moonbat radio. You would never hear a complaint about tactics used or plans foiled. I guess what I'm trying to say is that they were not 'independent' progressive radio. They could never bring themselves to critique anything the left was not doing well...they were simply cheerleaders for a depressing and failed ideology. They weren't honest, they weren't independent, they weren't innovative, they were just depressingly anti. That take I can get on 20 other radio stations, 6 TV stations, 7 Newspapers, and innumerable cable outlets in my local market. I tried to listen, but they were never funny enough for me to stay more than a few minutes. If you are going to call me and mine the devil, you need to at least make me smile while you do it. …but it was the honesty thing that killed them. Air America's New York City progressive audience wasn't as stupid as Air America needed it to be. This is the New York market after all. We've got moonbats, but they're New York moonbats, ya know what I'm sayin'. Talk down to a New Yorker, even a latte slurpin' New Yorker, and you get your ass handed to you. The audience wanted more substance than just Bush bashing (OK, some for comic relief is cool) - and they never got it. New York is the best, and toughest, market in the world. Air America tried to phone it in. They were lousy at it.Update: BlameBush decrys the lack of media outlets.
