Shamnesty Fails...

| | Comments (3)

The Senate has failed to pass Cloture.  The amnesty bill is finally dead, dead, dead.  Sweet Baby Jesus, it's been like stabbing a zombie for the past several weeks.  Finally we were able to take it's head off.

It must be seriously scary for politicians when Americans actually wake up and get involved in something to the extent they were against this disaster of a bill...especially when both sides hated this seeping pustule equally.  They really depend on us to bow to the political class as if they were actually something special.   Sometimes they need to be reminded who they work for.  The 1st amendment came thru this time...despite renewed calls from congress to shut down dissent* on the airwaves.  We didn't even need to use the 2nd this time, altho I heard rumblings....   Sometimes you are surprised at which straw breaks the camels back.

'Ware America when 80% of the population wants something to happen (or not).

Kennedy meltdown:  What's their (those who are against the bill) alternative ?  Send them (illegals) back?  Send them back to the countries around the world?  Develop a type of Gestapo to seek out these people?  That's their alternative?

What a fucking loser. The alternative is simple you fat drunken murderer.  Close the border first.
Sen. Elizabeth H. Dole, R-N.C., said many Americans "don't have confidence" that borders, especially with Mexico, will be significantly tightened. "It's not just promises but proof that the American people want," Dole said.
See how simple it is Teddy. Secure the borders first...then you can reform immigration and get those 12 million votes you need for the Dims.

This also spells the end of the line for that prick McCain...a big 'Republican' supporter of this piece of crap. Another big smackdown for John was today's Supreme Court decision limiting the anti-free speech McCain-Feingold bill - with an indication that SCOTUS would declare it unconstitutional if it was brought before them again.
*From Captain's Quarters comes the news of the most recent pushback against the 'fairness doctrine'.

The second is the Pence amendment to forbid the FCC from re-enacting the Fairness Doctrine. I live-blogged the debate on this amendment earlier today, and the voice vote at the time was said to carry Pence to victory. He wanted a recorded vote and got it. The final result: an overwhelming rejection of the Fairness Doctrine, 309-115, with 1 vote present. The Democrats split almost exactly, while all voting Republicans voted for the amendment.

Excellent post! You speak for the 80% of us who are glad this bill failed.

I like the question posed in the opening line of Investor's Business Daily's article entitled Border Sellout: "Immigration: On a leaking boat, does a good sailor bail water or first plug leaks?"
