A poll of nearly 2,000 Britons by YouGov/PHI found that 70 per cent of respondents incorrectly said it was true that the US had done a worse job than the European Union in reducing carbon emissions since 2000. More than 50 per cent presumed that polygamy was legal in the US, when it is illegal in all 50 states. . . .

The survey showed that a majority agreed with the false statement that since the Second World War the US had more often sided with non-Muslims when they had come into conflict with Muslims. In fact in 11 out of 12 major conflicts between Muslims and non-Muslims, Muslims and secular forces, or Arabs and non-Arabs, the US has sided with the former group. Those conflicts included Turkey and Greece, Bosnia and Yugoslavia, and and Kosovo and Yugoslavia.

Asked if it was true that "from 1973 to 1990 the United States sold Saddam Hussein more than a quarter of his weapons," 80 per cent of British respondents said yes. However the US sold just 0.46 per cent of Saddam's arsenal to him, compared to Russia's 57 per cent, France's 13 per cent and China's 12 per cent.

The U.S. Senate soon could be debating whether you, your spouse and each of your children - as well as your in-laws, parents, grandparents, neighbors and everyone else in America - each will be spending $2,500 or more to reduce poverty around the world.

The plan sponsored by Sen. Barack Obama, the presumptive Democratic nominee for the office of president, is estimated to cost the United States some $845 billion over the coming few years in an effort to raise the standard of living around the globe.

S.2433 already has been approved in one form by the U.S. House of Representatives, and now has been placed on the Senate Legislative Calendar for pending debate.

WND previously has reported the proposal demands the president develop "and implement" a policy to "cut extreme global poverty in half by 2015 through aid, trade, debt relief" and other programs.

Cliff Kincaid at Accuracy in Media has published a critique asserting that while the Global Poverty Act sounds nice, the adoption could "result in the imposition of a global tax on the United States" and would make levels "of U.S. foreign aid spending subservient to the dictates of the United Nations."

He said the legislation, if approved, dedicates 0.7 percent of the U.S. gross national product to foreign aid, which over 13 years he said would amount to $845 billion "over and above what the U.S. already spends."

The plan passed the House in 2007 "because most members didn't realize what was in it," Kincaid reported. "Congressional sponsors have been careful not to calculate the amount of foreign aid spending that it would require."

A recent statement from Obama's office noted the support offered by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

"With billions of people living on just dollars a day around the world, global poverty remains one of the greatest challenges and tragedies the international community faces," Obama said. "It must be a priority of American foreign policy to commit to eliminating extreme poverty and ensuring every child has food, shelter, and clean drinking water. As we strive to rebuild America's standing in the world, this important bill will demonstrate our promise and commitment to those in the developing world.

"Our commitment to the global economy must extend beyond trade agreements that are more about increasing profits than about helping workers and small farmers everywhere," he continued.

Obama has continued to lobby for such massive expenditures on his campaign stops. During an address as recently as last week, he said, "I'll double our foreign assistance to $50 billion by 2012, and use it to support a stable future in failing states, and sustainable growth in Africa; to halve global poverty and to roll back disease."

Beck and Kincaid pointed out that the plan not only commits the U.S. to the anti-poverty spending proposal, it also adopts for the U.S. the United Nations Millennium Development Goal, which includes a variety treaties and protocols advocated by the U.N.

Objections have remained strong. On a posting also available at the All American blogger, a commentator warned that the U.S. has yet to be able to win its own war on poverty.

"On January 8, 1964, President Lyndon Johnson declared "all-out war on human poverty and unemployment in these United States." This "all-out war" would last through the presidencies of Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, H.W. Bush, Clinton, and George W. Bush. We have spent billions of dollars fighting this war, and what have we achieved?"

He continued, "Very little. In 1964, there were 36 million Americans living in poverty, or about 19 percent of the population. In the 40 years between 1964 and 2004: ... poverty never measured less than 11 percent of the population. In 1983, under President Reagan, poverty registered 15.2 percent; in 1993, at the beginning of Bill Clinton's presidency, poverty was measured at 13.7 percent of the population. In 2004, under George W. Bush, a president often accused by the political Left as not caring about the poor, the poverty rate declined to 12.7 percent. Still, some 37 million Americans remain poor.
"

Despite that performance, "Obama is ready to take the fight global," said commentator Duane Lester.

"In addition to seeking to eradicate poverty, that declaration commits nations to banning 'small arms and light weapons' and ratifying a series of treaties, including the International Criminal Court Treaty, the Kyoto Protocol (global warming treaty), the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child," he wrote.

Tom DeWeese at NewsWithViews said the plan "is very telling" about what Obama would do as president.

DeWeese, president of the American Policy Center, warned the over-arching plan includes the ideals of consolidating all international agencies under the U.N., regulation by the U.N. of all corporate environmental issues, license fees charged by the U.N. to use air, water and natural resources, a restructuring that would give hand-picked non-governmental organizations huge influence, authorize a standing U.N. army and require registration of all arms.

The day some UN puke announces I have to turn in my guns is just another one of the days the UN dies in blood.

American Thinker: Memory and the Left

The average leftist is not even aware of any of this. If asked about Iraq, he will drone through the standard run of slogans, none of which made much sense in the first place and now come across as sheer raving. But it doesn't matter. It worked with the famine, it worked with the purges, it worked with Nam, and it will work -- so they think -- with Iraq.

Fortunately, things have changed since the left's heyday. Haditha is not a forgotten name. That twelve-story pile of yellowcake is proving difficult to ignore. At one point, the left controlled virtually the entire national media sphere. This is no longer the case. If the new media is about anything, it is about discovering, highlighting, and promulgating the things that we're not supposed to know, the stories we're not supposed to think about, the events that are supposed to be forgotten. The Holodomor, the Great Purge, the Hue massacre -- all were buried because they could be. They cannot be buried anymore.

Yikes...

"We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set," he (Obama) said Wednesday. "We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded."

Shades of the SA

Can you imagine what kind of idiot cop-wannabe would be attracted to that.

I expect the revolution would be blogged, and I wish I was younger. Shooting M'Bonga's brownshirts would be fun, but I'm getting a bit long in the tooth for that kind of activity.

From Irons in the fire
Why do some Americans feel that all is terrible in the state of our Union.
It seems to me that the better things get, the worse the screams of despair.

US child mortality is the lowest it has been since the mid Seventies.
The US poverty rate is the lowest it has been in over 20 years.
We no longer need to worry about a nuclear war with the Soviets.
The life expectancy has risen 4 decades in the past 160 years.
The USA's GNP has increased by better than a factor of 4 since my birth.
Polio was eradicated during my lifetime...and TB essentially before.
Would you like to argue that there have not been huge advances in medicine?
The world is a MUCH safer place than when I was born...can you say Global Thermonuclear War?
The environment is cleaner by every measure. Global Warming...it doesn't exist.
In 1903, accidental deaths by firearms came on at 3.1 per hundred thousand...by 1993 the rate was 0.6 per hundred thousand.

Why don't we do somethin? Why does nothing seem to get better? Who is to blame? Where is the gov'mint?

This is what you hear from the professional breast-beaters. And that is exactly what I believe it to be...a professional association of complainers.

When I was 14, John Kennedy demanded..."ask not what America can do for you, but what you can do for America." There were millions who responded.

That was just before a small minority of worthless lay-abouts became media darlings. Tune in, turn on, drop out...became the words of the day. Even though these were only the words of a small minority, they were given stature beyond their true worth.

I blame my generation, the media, and cowardly politicians.

American morality was hijacked by focusing angst on the war in Vietnam. I've got news for you children...not everyone was against kicking the crap out of the commies. Most of the country thought it was worthwhile just on general principles. It wasn't the body count that turned Americans against the war, it was the lack of will of the stinking, slimy, politicians to fight it right and fight it to the bitter end. The parents of those boys and girls dying in Vietnam were the same people who kicked the shit out of Japan and Germany...truely the greatest generation. They knew what losses were...but they also know when politicians were full of shit. Many of their children were spoiled and worthless...willing to sell their freedoms for hot-tubs and sweet, sweet, words. All of our current poor crop of politicians are from my generation.

Understand no matter how good things get, the professional whiners will never stop. As long as there is one poor child, one threatened Snail Darter, one gun in the hands of a free man, or one minor accident that could have been prevented by a 500 million dollar government program...these whiners will be with us. Its their job.

I hope our children do better.

Get off my bus, I need to pray

The white Islamic convert rolled out his prayer mat in the aisle and knelt on the floor facing Mecca.

Passengers watched in amazement as he held out his palms towards the sky, bowed his head and began to chant. One, who filmed the man on his mobile phone, said: "He was clearly praying and chanting in Arabic.

"We thought it was a wind-up at first, like Jeremy Beadle." The 21-year-old plumber added: "He looked English and had a London accent. He looked like a Muslim convert, with a big, bushy beard.

Eventually everyone started complaining. One woman said, "What the hell are you doing? I'm going to be late for work."

After a few minutes the driver calmly got up, opened the doors and asked everyone back on board. But they saw a rucksack lying on the floor of the red single-decker and feared he might be a fanatic. So they all refused.

The passenger added: "One chap said, "I'm not getting on there now".

"An elderly couple also looked really confused and worried. "After seeing that no-one wanted to get on he drove off and we all waited until the next bus came about 20 minutes later. I was left totally stunned. It made me not want to get on a bus again."

The bizarre event unfolded on the number 81 in Langley, Berkshire, at around 1.30pm on Thursday.

At the wheel... 'Hrun' drives No81 The passenger said he rang the bus firm to complain but claimed it did not believe him.

He said: "They asked me, "Are you sure?". Then they said they would get back to me, but they weren't taking me seriously at all." Yesterday the driver, who said his name was Hrun, told The Sun: "I asked everyone to get off because I needed to pray. I was running late and had not had time.

"I pray five times a day as a Muslim- but I don't normally ask people to get off the bus to do it." Muslims pray at pre-dawn, noon, afternoon, sunset and evening.

Try to imagine this happening on a NYC bus....

Rachell Corrie

In a series of three videos, each running approximately nine minutes, Becky Johnson and Lee Kaplan debunk the myth that Corrie was protecting a house. In fact, as Smooth Stone points out and as you will see in the video below, Corrie was standing in a trench where she could not be seen, protecting an entrance to a weapons tunnel.

Actual video footage from the Israeli Defense Forces show the real circumstances under which the terrorist loving anarchist died: knee-deep in a trench in the middle of dirt in an open dirt field. The left arrow on the photo below points to the tractor, the right arrow shows the kneeling Rachel Corrie. To see the live action footage moments before Rachel Corrie's accidental death, go to the Part 2 video [which I am embedding below. CiJ], approx 49 seconds into the video:
As was immediately suspected, the photo's in the media were photoshopped fakes...
Questions have also been raised if the Pali doctors let her die to gain an international Martyr.
The Pali photographer who photoshopped the original pictures said that her death was necessary to the cause.

Check out the actual video.

Riverside complaint leads to flag-folding recitation ban

Riverside complaint leads to flag-folding recitation ban The Associated Press Advertisement RIVERSIDE, Calif. Flag-folding recitations by Memorial Honor Detail volunteers are now banned at the nation's 125 veterans graveyards because of a complaint about the ceremony at Riverside National Cemetery. During thousands of military burials, the volunteers have folded the American flag 13 times and recited the significance of every fold to survivors.

MADRID, Spain (AP) - Nobel laureate Doris Lessing said the Sept. 11 attacks in the United States were "not that terrible" when compared to attacks by the IRA in Britain. - Doris Lessing

Lessing won the noble prize for literature earlier this month. She was praised by the judges for her "skepticism, fire and visionary power.   "I always hated Tony Blair, from the beginning," El Pais quoted Lessing as saying. "Many of us hated Tony Blair, I think he has been a disaster for Britain and we have suffered him for many years. I said it when he was elected: This man is a little showman who is going to cause us problems and he did."

"As for Bush, he's a world calamity," added Lessing. "Everyone is tired of this man. Either he is stupid or he is very clever, although you have to remember he is a member of a social class which has profited from wars."

"Mom and Dad" as well as "husband and wife" effectively have been banned from California schools under a bill signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who with his signature also ordered public schools to allow boys to use girls restrooms and locker rooms, and vice versa, if they choose.

Check this out....

SEC. 39. Section 66260.7 is added to the Education Code, to read:
66260.7. "Gender" means sex, and includes a person's gender
identity and gender related appearance and behavior whether or not
stereotypically associated with the person's assigned sex at birth.

Gender in Kali is apparently assigned, like homework...

All Maximum leader needs is Mao's Little Red Book to complete the image.  Either that or a green halo.

Globular Waarmenists look at this poster and swoon.

I look at this poster and see just another demigod preying on the weak minded.  I see a man making money pushing 'carbon offsets' to assuage the guilt of greenies, when he owns the company.  His personal 'carbon footprint' matches that of a small third-world country.  This is his path to the power he let slip thru his fingers in 2000.

Anyone that can look at this poster without the hairs raising on the back of their necks not someone I want having a say in how I live my life.

...and from the scientific community:

ONE of the world's foremost meteorologists has called the theory that helped Al Gore share the Nobel Peace Prize 'ridiculous' and the product of 'people who don't understand how the atmosphere works'.

Dr William Gray, a pioneer in the science of seasonal hurricane forecasts, told a packed lecture hall at the University of North Carolina that humans were not responsible for the warming of the earth.

His comments came on the same day that the Nobel committee honoured Mr Gore for his work in support of the link between humans and global warming.

We're brainwashing our children, said Dr Gray, 78, a long-time professor at Colorado State University. They're going to the Gore movie [An Inconvenient Truth] and being fed all this. It's ridiculous.

So I'm reading about the theory of hysteria.

In chimpanzee society when faced with an overwhelming or previously unknown threat, such as the first time they heard a rifle shot, the tribe would act in a hysterical manner.

Some would try and fight, some would run, some would bluff, others would hide or play dead.

With no way to logically evaluate the threat, the very randomness ensured that some would survive. It was an evolutionary method to ensure survival.

I have just identified the roots of liberalism.

Maybe they're just really hungry.

What does the Koran say about cannibalism?

Oh, Rosie! Terrorists invite her to Mideast
'We would welcome her to stay among us and know the truth'
Muslim jihadist leaders interviewed for a new book were ecstatic about statements from television talk host Rosie O'Donnell about the war in Iraq and the global war on terror, agreeing with her outspoken views.

Some even invited her on a "fact finding mission" to the Middle East.

"I agree with what this O'Donnell says. ...We welcome Rosie O'Donnell to stay among us and to get to know the truth from being here, like many American peace activists are doing," said Ala Senakreh, West Bank chief of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terrorist organization.

What I like about Ted Kennedy is that he's not only a man of truth and vision, but he speaks with a clear conscience. He fought valiantly in Germany during the Korean War while Bush was partying with his rich white buddies in Kennebunkport. So I think the man is more than qualified to criticize Bush's bungling of the Iraq war.

You see, the good Senator from Massachusetts knows that with matters as important as national security, you can't just dive in headfirst without a plan. We should take our time, lie on the grass a while, smoke a cigarette, and think things through. We must seek the help of our friends, allies, lawyers, etc. and discuss the possible political ramifications of our actions. Then, and only then, should we report the accident.

Wait... we were talking about Iraq, weren't we?

Yes, yes...As the Senator said, Bush has created a "credibility gap as wide as Martha's Vineyard" with his stretching of the truth, and his outright lies about events leading up to and following the war. According to Kennedy, Bush got in over his head in Iraq, and now he's treading water. He's lost the trust of the American people by wandering aimlessly around in the dark while innocent lives are lost.

But that's all water under the bridge. Sure, a young woman is dead, but the most important thing right now is damage control. Salvaging the Senator's political career must be our top priority, and I don't care who we have to bribe or blackmail to make things right.

Whoa...did I stray off again?

Where was I?

Oh yes...the esteemed Senator Kennedy concluded his speech by attacking Bush's honesty, and comparing his presidency to that of Richard "Watergate" Nixon's.

"Saying whatever it takes to prevail has become standard operating procedure in the Bush White House," Kennedy said. "In this administration, truth is the first casualty of policy."

In other words, you can't just put on a phony neck brace and expect people to believe your sob story, Mr. Bush! Your rich and powerful daddy won't protect you now! You must level with the American People, and take responsibility for your actions, before the truth comes floating to the surface like the bloated corpse of your dead brother's secretary.

The Left doesn't Like it...

|

...because they don't understand it.

The left does not have the mental and verbal constructs required to digest this type of news. We are on our 2nd or 3rd generation of progressives that literally cannot understand any concept outside their echo chamber of a world view.

The proof is in the pudding...while I could easily understand a failure in Iraq and the reasons for it, the left absolutely would be flummoxed by success in Iraq because the reasons for success do not exist in their world.

A young man or woman of good upbringing and with future prospects joins the military thru a sense of duty and honor for this country. I understand this. Duty and honor are not understood by the left so there must be another reason that this person joined up.

Bad news is good news. Good news is bad news. Doublespeak and thought police. The reason the left must frame the debate to have a chance of winning it - is that there are concepts that they cannot understand.

"The thought police would get him just the same. He had committed-would have committed, even if he had never set pen to paper-the essential crime that contained all others in itself. Thoughtcrime, they called it. Thoughtcrime was not a thing that could be concealed forever. You might dodge successfully for a while, even for years, but sooner or later they were bound to get you."
- 1984

The left can only think one way...they do not have the capacity to think another. So the Left is sure that anyone with a differing opinion is an aberration, not just a contrary person, but harboring differing thoughts that can only come from a criminal or a mental defective.

This is why you cannot argue with a progressive. If you let them frame the debate, they win. If they can't frame the debate - they don't have the mental framework to even compete.

The article discussed is after the jump in case the link to the NYT doesn't work.

Precaution and Principal...

I would add, now Whyte has given me the right analytical start, that the way that the problem is usually posed should give this away directly. The precaution preacher says that: the Very Bad Thing (B) may be unlikely, but it is so very very bad, that however unlikely it is, it is too horrible to contemplate not doing onerous things P prevent it. It might as well be certain, but for P. That is implicitly a claim that both B is infinite in horribleness and that P is guaranteed to reduce its (unknown) likelihood.

Not only is it a bad bet, but the claim to the efficacy of P should be treated with skepticism. As well to remember that when dealing with Greens, securocrats and panic-mongers of all kinds. - Guy Hurbert, Samisdata

Guy is responding to this piece in the London Times

Suppose that, in return for an annual premium of L1, someone promises to pay you L1 million if you are abducted by aliens (such insurance exists). ... You lack the information required to know if the insurance is a good deal. It is in such situations of uncertainty that the precautionary principle is supposed to apply. ... [T]his principle tells you to buy the ticket. You should incur the L1 cost of the premium if there is any chance that it will save you from the greater cost of experiencing an uncompensated alien abduction. Whenever the prize is greater than the bet, and you do not know the odds, the principle says you should gamble.

Think about that for a bit in light of what you are hearing from Truthers, Greens, and Barking Moonbats....

Sea Levels may reach 20' higher than they are now - don't take a chance, subsume yourself to the gerbil worming mantra.
Scores of Millions of Americans may die horribly, don't take a chance - we must embrace socialized medicine
You may be murdered in your bed, don't take a chance - we must melt all guns into limos for the political class
You may burn in Hell for all eternity, don't take the chance, send $50 bucks to Reverand Swaggart right now.

...it's worked in the past with predictable results.

People may die if we continue to use DDT - don't take the chance, ban it.  We banned it and 50 Million people died of Malaria.  No-one died of DDT poisoning.

38 Years Ago Today...

Bastard

From LawDog, who says it better than I ever could.

... thirty-eight years ago, a 28 year old teacher, secretary and campaign worker for Robert Kennedy accepted a ride to her motel from Senator Teddy Kennedy.

Earlier this day I wrote a post savaging Senator Kennedy for the subsequent death of that young woman. It is now -- and has been -- my opinion that she was left to die because Teddy Kennedy's political career was more important than her life.

I even dug up the National Lampoon fake VW advert as the opening for this post.

Teddy Kennedy is a murderer. He is a wretch totally lacking in courage, honour or common human decency and, as a result, he allowed that young lady to drown in the darkness.

The thing is, there is nothing I can do to Teddy. He has no conscience for me to prick; no sense of shame that I can jab; no vein of honour I can awaken.

Had he any of things, he would have atoned for his part in this slaying a long time ago.

I can write -- have written -- vicious satire, cutting humour and elegant insults, but to what end? There is nothing I can write this side of Eternal Judgement that will have any effect whatsoever on the sotted, ophidian soul of Senator Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts.

And I would regret that my efforts in this would cause any disturbance to the rest of that slain girl.

Scientists are not above the prejudices of their age. Global warming is a political theory. It's rarely stated, but we all know it. People on the Left tend to believe it. People on the Right tend not to.

The media and academe (as those of us on the inside know very well) are, in the main, soft left and soft green. We like things that are natural, we think the market is cruel, and we recycle not because it's logical but because it feels right. In these circles global warming has become part of social etiquette. It is as unacceptable to question it as it is to say that you admire George W. Bush or think organic food is a con.

This is the real strength of global warming theory. It taps into the middle-class aesthetic revulsion of consumer, industrial society. - Martin Durkin

Gordon Brown - Don't call Terrorists Muslims

I find it amazing that the Europeans think with their ears in this case rather than see with their eyes. Yikes!

If you don't hear the word 'muslims' - there are no muslims trying to kill you.
If you don't hear the phrase 'war on terror' - there isn't any.
If you avoid inflammatory language - there is no inflammation.
If you reject the 'message' of terrorists - the terrorists are rejected.

"You don't exist", "I don't see you", LA, LA, LA, LA, LA

European example is to roll over and play dead while using semantics to convince themselves that there is no problem. That'll work. It's been working since '69 really well. It's going to get you a lot of traction with the muzzies, I'm sure.

One might think that after nearly 40 years of terror attacks targeted on the West, with absolutely zero results thru negotiation with this particular brand of barbarian, that Europe might try a different tack.

Better would be to grow some balls, call a muzzie a muzzie, smack them back hard (like they've done before successfully), and if you want to negotiate with your would-be masters, do it from a perceived position of strength.

Thank God America isn't Europe.

For all of the aggravation in the ME, I still see it as a side-show. What secures the future for America is a viable China policy. A workable ME policy would result in either smoking holes or a walled off shithole of religious nutjobs. I don't really see much else working there.

I'm having discussions about this on a forum. Most on the right want the smoking hole policy, but most on the left just want to leave. I don't see leaving as anything other than delaying the inevitable, and we don't have the will for smoking holes.

A virtual wall seems to be the best step at the moment...but that requires engagement. It would require blocking them from any incursion outside of the ME, and responding heavily when they use terror outside their own borders. We would have to be ready for 'small wars' on the level of Iraq, but the left would certainly not support that....and our energy policy would take a hit for a while. We did it for 60 years with the Russians, so I don't see why it wouldn't work. Eventually Russia collapsed trying to keep up with the West. The ME has no desire to keep up with the West, but a 7th century culture is pretty much doomed to failure in the modern world anyway.

Eventually the Shiia, Sunni, Salafi, Baha'i, Sufi, Wahhabi, and the rest, would pretty much kill each other off.  The day they ran out of oil would be a sight to see.  By then I expect the rest of the world to be on alternative (possibly broadcast) energy models.

If not...there is always those smoking holes.

A Paris festival celebrating US music and culture has been called off following a series of anti-American threats, organizers said on Sunday.

Called "Three Days in America", the festival featuring country and gospel concerts, line-dancing, sales of US paraphernalia and a tribute to Elvis Presley was to take place from May 26 to 28 in Saint Cloud, southwest of Paris.

Organizers issued a statement saying they were forced to postpone the event following "persistent pressure and threats of an anti-American nature".

Thanx to No Pasaran

...with the landslide for Sarkozy.

The Place de la Bastille...

53+% for Sarkozy, 46+% for Royal with the voter turnout nearing 80%.  That is a huge turnout, even for France.  The socialists are not having it.

The inset at the bottom notes that GW sent along his congrats to Sarkozy.  I find it interesting that the socialists I correspond with in France are saying that the rioting would not have happened if people had voted for their candidate Royal.  That seems a bit like a protection racket to me...a political threat.  Vote for me or I'll burn your cities to the ground.  Typical.

From Publius Pundit we see the reasons Sarko surged in the past few weeks.

The first blow was when French thugs rioted in Gare Du Nord station and said they were smashing shop windows and burning tires because they didn't like Sarkozy. Sarko blasted them, said he'd come get them good if he were president.
When he was criticized for his tough stance, he refused to back down
and won a huge and definitive lead in the polls.

Sarko made a dazzling speech at a final campaign rally in France last Sunday, blaming the spirit of 1968 for France's current malaise.  Sarko articulated the unspoken thoughts of millions of Frenchmen who'd been smothered with a culture of political correctness for decades and who were told they were racists if they thought anything differently. Net result, another boost for Sarko in the polls.

The debate on May 2, really clinched it. Sarko calmly laid out his economic and political plans while his opponent, Segolene Royal, flew off the handle and postured and puffed about starving babies, trying to get an emotional vote. Sarko quietly told her to calm down and act presidential.

Finally, there was the Bin Laden Effect. Banlieue thugs (who are neither Muslim nor Islamofascist nor leftist, just pure thugs who deal drugs and act like South Central Los Angeles lowlife) vowed to riot and burn cars if Frnech voters dared elect Sarkozy.  The more they showed their faces, the more French voters wanted the firm hand of Sarko to make things right.

A Question for the Debate...

|

MSNBC is asking you for questions to use in the upcoming debate of Democrat candidates.

Here is mine.

Will your leadership be able to stuff a mattress with all the white feathers they are earning off the back's of our troops?

On April 26th, watch the 2008 Democratic Presidential Candidates Debate on MSNBC TV and MSNBC.com to see if your question is asked.

"NBC Nightly News" Anchor and Managing Editor Brian Williams will moderate the debate.

The South Carolina Democratic Party has announced that Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Chris Dodd, John Edwards, Mike Gravel, Dennis Kucinich, Barack Obama, and Bill Richardson are all confirmed to participate. The debate will take place at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

Baseless Charges

This officer, described by senior Marine Corps superiors as one of the best and most dedicated intelligence officers in the entire Marine Corps, was in possession of evidence which provided a minute-by-minute narrative of the entire day's action - material which he had amassed while monitoring the day's action in his capacity as the battalion's intelligence officer. That material, he says, was also in the hands of the NCIS.

Much of that evidence remains classified, but it includes videos of the entire day's action, including airstrikes against insurgent safe houses. Also included was all of the radio traffic describing the ongoing action between the men on the ground and battalion headquarters, and proof that the Marines were aware that the insurgents conducting the ambush of the Kilo Company troops were videotaping the action - the same video that after editing ended up in the hands of a gullible anti-war correspondent for Time magazine.

Note that the whole thing got started when an edited terrorist tape was 'leaked' to Time magazine.

The Marines were wired with video and radio themselves, and that true record of everything that happened to every man that day is what is exonerating them.  The digital war.

Fuck that waste of air, Murtha.  Fuck Time Magazine.   The shittiest Marine yardbird private is worth more than all of them.

Murtha, Reid, Pelosi, most of the Media...god-damned traitors in words if not in deeds.  Always ready to support the troops by believing the worst of them despite evidence to the contrary.

The liberal Arabic-language website Aafaq reports that a Muslim student set off a debate when she sent an email to the mailing list of the Muslim Students' Association at Virginia Tech asking the students to pray that Allah have mercy on those killed and wounded in the shooting attack at the university.

According to Aafaq, the dean of student affairs at American International University, Abu Hamza Hijji, responded, writing that Allah the Most Merciful forbids praying for mercy for the non-Muslim dead, or even for the non-Muslim living, and that it is only permitted to pray that they be rightly guided [DS: convert to Islam]. He added that what happened was a sad occurrence, but that does not give Muslims the right to transgress the laws of Allah the Most Merciful.

Words fail me.

Watching a bunch of self-congratulating Hollywood moonbats with BDS slap each other on the back for the low rent art house films they make is not how I want to spend my evening.   Christ on a Crutch - It's like getting root canal.

Think of a world without Hollywood films.  Not real difficult, is it?  How far the mighty have fallen.

Maybe they should try making films instead of political statements.

A good day in Iraq...

| | Comments (1)

As many of you know by now we had a very good day in Iraq yesterday. In Najaf almost 300 insurgents were killed,60 wounded and another 100 captured. Pretty good I would say.

Not everybody agrees.A poll was taken among MSM journalists and the new Democratic Majority in the House and Senate and here are their top ten answers.

1."Damn....if only they were civilians. We could have used it"
2."They'll never respect us like this."
3."Don't worry,The New York Times can fix it."
4."Poor Nancy...she's inconsolable"
5."Well I'm satisfied...let's pullout now."
6."This will only inflame the Muslim world."
7."Stupid surge."
8."There's plenty more where that came from."
9."OK people...shake it off.Shake it off."
10."This only proves we're losing."

I thought I would add a few of my own....

John Kerry: "300? Only 300? Why, back in my day we used to rape and kill 300 pre-schoolers before breakfast...and that was just the boys."

John McCain: "I am introducing legislation into the Senate to ban the use of this fatal form of torture - shooting people"

Any New Jersey Politician: "For $50,000 bucks I'll say whatever you want me to."

Michael Moore: "Dude, these 300 minutemen will be remembered - I'd make a docudrama about it but it's dinner time."

And-a one, and-a two, and-a....
Jane Fonda: "Ah, like, that's bad, like, dude. Like."
Sean Penn: "Ah, like, that's bad, like, dude. Like."
Susan Sarandon: "Ah, like, that's bad, like, dude. Like."
Moonbat Chorus: "Ah, like, that's bad, like, dude. Like."

...at today's wake for a close friend, I mistook an older couple for a pair I hadn't seen in about 5 years.

Trainer:  I haven't seen you in a while - [small talk]
Couple:  [small talk ] - We're going to Washington tomorrow for The March. [spoken in capitals]
Trainer:  What march? [realizing I had gotten the wrong couple]
Couple:  We're Marching For Peace. [que inspirational music]
Trainer:  That's a bit generic for me.  Are you marching for Peace through Superior Firepower? Peace for Darfur?  Peace for Israel?  What peace?
Couple:  We're Marching For Peace, but we support the troops.
Trainer:  [biting off his own leg to escape the trap] Well, bye!

Apparently this peace march in DC tomorrow is to be attended by some of the leading lights of Hollywood.  The usual suspects...including Hanoi Jane of urinal target fame.  Personally I would rather use ground glass to moisten my contacts than look at any of those dweebs, but to each their own moonbattery.

My personal moonbattery involves trying to send a fraction of an ounce of alloy into the space occupied by a shirt pocket at about 700 yards.  I can generally achieve a dinner plate, but sadly not a shirt pocket.  With some tweaking I'll get there.

Eventually I might be able to get a chance to try my skill on a urinal target.

...and you won't hear about it in the media.

January 21, 2007 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Saturday's much anticipated squaring off between noted Middle East scholar Dr. Daniel Pipes and London's leftist mayor Ken Livingstone - billed as the "Clash of Civilisations or World Civilisations" - was a rout, with Pipes - teaming with Brit Douglas Murray - besting the far less articulate Mayor's team while drawing considerable applause on decidedly hostile ground.

Livingstone and his partner Birmingham Councilwoman Salma Yaqoob were rendered speechless on occasion, unable to challenge Pipes' professorial delivery and Murray's oratory.

Dr. Pipes presented the idea that radical Islam is the problem and moderate Islam, the solution. He dramatically quoted a Quranic text to show that the tenets for civil society were also to be found within Islam, and in concluding his remarks, brought the audience to their feet.

He critiqued Samuel Huntington's theory of clashing civilizations explaining how the struggle was more properly a conflict between civilization and barbarism.

According to eyewitness accounts, Murray "came out with guns blazing" and attacked Livingstone for his claims that all the ills of the world should be blamed on the West, challenging his belief that jihad is "our fault."

Murray called multiculturalism an abject failure and pointedly asked why Livingstone had chosen Salma Yaqoob an Islamist, as a debating partner, noting that she is the Vice Chair of the Respect Party [a group which prides itself of being "Zionist Free"] and had openly campaigned for the release of terrorists and referred to the 7/7 bombings "as reprisals."

Leftists always lose when they cannot frame the debate.

Anyone who truly understands their position or has lived under communism treats it and them as an anathema.

That is why it is essential that leftists control the media.

That is why it is essential that leftists control the judiciary.

That is why it is essential that leftists disarm the population.

That is why it is essential that leftists control educational establishment.

You can see it here happening in the US. Don't believe for a minute it is an accident that progressives own the media, the universities, want to take your guns, and stuff the courts. They are simply following the drill that is in the junior communist's play book.

Socialists around the world hate us because we resist...and are successful despite of it.

Battle of the TV weathermen...

| | Comments (1)

Here we see in the Birmingham News, via Drudge, that the globular waarmening controversy has hit the nightly news weather broadcasts.

"Well, well," Spann wrote on his blog. "Some `climate expert' on `The Weather Channel' wants to take away AMS certification from those of us who believe the recent `global warming' is a natural process. So much for `tolerance,' huh?

"I have been in operational meteorology since 1978, and I know dozens and dozens of broadcast meteorologists all over the country. ... I do not know of a single TV meteorologist who buys into the man-made global-warming hype. I know there are a few out there, but I can't find them."

This is really, really bad news for the globular waarmening enthusiasts.  If the local TV weather personalities don't buy into this tripe, and start actively resisting it, then Mr. and Mrs. 'let's check the weather' are going to get another source of expert information.

That's terrible news for the greenies.  Control of information is key to the collectivist agenda.

Venezuela's National Assembly has given initial approval to a bill granting the president the power to bypass congress and rule by decree for 18 months.

President Hugo Chavez says he wants "revolutionary laws" to enact sweeping political, economic and social changes.

He has said he wants to nationalize key sectors of the economy and scrap limits on the terms a president can serve.

The Moonbats fight back....

The Weather Channel's most prominent climatologist is advocating that broadcast meteorologists be stripped of their scientific certification if they express skepticism about predictions of man made catastrophic global warming. This latest call to silence skeptics follows a year (2006) in which skeptics were compared to "Holocaust Deniers" and Nuremberg-style war crimes trials were advocated by several climate alarmists.

"It's like allowing a meteorologist to go on-air and say that hurricanes rotate clockwise and tsunamis are caused by the weather. It's not a political statement...it's just an incorrect statement," Cullen added. [Note: Hurricanes (Cyclones) in the Southern Hemisphere do rotate clockwise. Also, Cullen and the media have ignored the growing climate skepticism by prominent scientists.]

Do we silence "Holocaust Deniers"...no, that would be dead set against the 1st Amendment.  We let them dribble out the rope and hang themselves.

"Globular Waarmening" Deniers are apparently a much greater threat.

WASHINGTON — Iraq war protesters broke up a press conference by House Democrats on Wednesday with chants to bring American troops home from Iraq.
-------------
Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is set to become the first female House speaker in congressional history. She and other top House Democratic leaders met with Sheehan and her supporters in private meetings on Wednesday.
---------
“We didn’t put you in power to work with the people that have been murdering hundreds of thousands of people since they have been in power,” Sheehan said. “We put you in power to be opposition to them finally and we’re the ones who put them in power.”
---------
“The president has got about a six-month window here and if he doesn’t figure this out, how to get us out or start to get us out in six months, then you’ll actually see a vote to cut off funds,” said Martin Frost, former Texas Democratic representative and a FOX News contributor.

Please Nancy, support each and every thing the Sheehan wants - support it loudly and longly. Please, please, please, please. We're counting on you.

It's your fault you were raped...

In Sweden.

Norway’s Minister of Justice from 2001 to 2005, Odd Einar Dørum, mentioned the problem in 2001 but has later gone quiet about the issue. The reported number of rapes in Oslo is now six – 6! – times as high per capita as in New York City, yet the media keeps warning against Islamophobia.

According to Aftenposten, the clinic (voldtektsmottak) at the emergency hospital known as Legevakt has never had so many rape victims to treat. Its ability to care for them all is being severely tested. The number of reported rapes has skyrocketed this year.

Two out of three charged with rape in Norway’s capital are immigrants with a non-western background according to a police study. The number of rape cases is also rising steadily. Unni Wikan, a professor of social anthropology at the University of Oslo, in 2001 said that “Norwegian women must take their share of responsibility for these rapes” because Muslim men found their manner of dress provocative. The professor’s conclusion was not that Muslim men living in the West needed to adjust to Western norms, but the exact opposite: “Norwegian women must realize that we live in a Multicultural society and adapt themselves to it.”

Personally, I would prefer the .357 Magnum in the groin approach to rapists. But then again, I'm not an 'advanced' European. Why do the people over there put up with this crap? Why should they have to adapt to the barbaric standards of the immigrants?

Is there anything worthwhile we can learn from Europe any more? If there is, I don't see it.

This is what happens when the inmates take over the asylum. From Mark in Mexico.... UPDATE: Reader Ivor Crook emails from Manchester, England with a little more detail. Ivor says that what happened was that the 200 addicts were all hard drug addicts. When they hit the slammer, they were cut off "cold turkey" without benefit of any medical attention. He says that, under British law, such disregard for a prisoners physical condition is not permitted. Ivor does not necessarily agree nor disagree. For Globular Warmening. Would the UN leave data points out of it's reports....Naaaaa. So they did. The UN's second assessment report, in 1996, showed a 1,000-year graph demonstrating that temperature in the Middle Ages was warmer than today. But the 2001 report contained a new graph showing no medieval warm period. It wrongly concluded that the 20th century was the warmest for 1,000 years.

Environmental Magazine thinks there should be 'war crimes' trials for Global Warmening Skeptics. A U.S. based environmental magazine that both former Vice President Al Gore and PBS newsman Bill Moyers, for his October 11th global warming edition of "Moyers on America" titled "Is God Green?" have deemed respectable enough to grant one-on-one interviews to promote their projects, is now advocating Nuremberg-style war crimes trials for skeptics of human caused catastrophic global warming. Grist Magazine's staff writer David Roberts called for the Nuremberg-style trials for the "bastards" who were members of what he termed the global warming "denial industry." Roberts wrote in the online publication on September 19, 2006, "When we've finally gotten serious about global warming, when the impacts are really hitting us and we're in a full worldwide scramble to minimize the damage, we should have war crimes trials for these bastards -- some sort of climate Nuremberg." The article Global Warming: The Chilling Effect On Free Speech last week in Spiked Online addresses this new found penchant by environmentalists and some media members to charge skeptics of human caused catastrophic global warming with "crimes against humanity" and urge Nuremberg-style prosecution of them.
Well, I'm a big fan of Global Warmening, Global Coolening, and Global Averaging (or whatever the godawful greens come up with this week). It is bunk, and it is such obvious bunk that it flys in the face of any real science that's been done in the past 6 decades. Even the scientist who started the whole thing has backed away from it - citing the takeover of science by agenda. Respected scientists are backing away from it in droves - they must not like their bedfellows. Algore is pretty creepy anyway. I'm sure it tickles these moonbats in the hollow of their cold and twisted little hearts to think how much fun it would be to put people like me into some sort of Nuremberg trial. I think they should remember that the Nuremberg trials were only convened after about 50 million people had been killed trying to get to the point were they could be set up. They should also note that no one participated in the trials as a defendant by choice. Come and get me, swampies.
Let's take a look at the greenie track record, shall we? 1968 The Population Bomb - Paul Ehrlich In the 1970s the world will undergo famines - hundreds of millions of people are going to starve to death 1972 The Limits to Growth - Club of Rome The world will run out of gold by 1981, mercury by 1985, tin by 1987, zinc by 1990, petroleum by 1992, copper lead and gas by 1993 1976 The Cooling; Has the Ice Age Already begun - Lowell Ponte 1977 Jimmy Carter We could use up all of the proven reserves of oil in the entire world by the end of the next decade So tell me, how's that greenie thing workin' our for you? As a marine zoologist I studied all of these global environmental trends 4 decades ago. They were predicted and predictable, and there were solid scientific reasons for them. I've seen nothing to change my mind. That was until the illiberal godawful greenies made a religion out of them. Here is a question for those on this forum who are enamored of Global Warmening/Coolening... How long has the hole in the ozone layer been there? If you answered the obvious "since we started using those horrible CFCs" you would be wrong. It has always been there. That's science, not religion. Is it getting warmer. Yes. It's supposed to. In about 125 years it'll start getting cooler. It's supposed to. It's a 500 year cycle overlaid on a 1500 year cycle overlaid on a 10,000 year cycle overlaid on a 100,000 year cycle overlaid on a million year cycle. And don't forget to throw in the 11 year solar cycle. It's even got a name...
