Daschle says health-care reform "will not be pain free." Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them. That means the elderly will bear the brunt.
Medicare now pays for treatments deemed safe and effective. The stimulus bill would change that and apply a cost-effectiveness standard set by the Federal Council (Page 464).
The Federal Council is modeled after a U.K. board discussed in Daschle's book. This board approves or rejects treatments using a formula that divides the cost of the treatment by the number of years the patient is likely to benefit. Treatments for younger patients are more often approved than treatments for diseases that affect the elderly, such as osteoporosis.

But in those same two years, according to the Mexican government, 29,000 guns were recovered at crime scenes.
In other words, 68 percent of the guns that were recovered were never submitted for tracing. And when you weed out the roughly 6,000 guns that could not be traced from the remaining 32 percent, it means 83 percent of the guns found at crime scenes in Mexico could not be traced to the U.S

My wife was talking over the side fence today with our 101 year old neighbor Jenny when something caught her eye.
Walking out from along side of our shed came two black kids. The shed is in the back corner of our yard 90 feet from the street. They started walking toward her, the mooch started barking (he was outside), and at that very instant two prowlers pulled up, nabbed the kids, patted them down, and hauled them away.
Apparently they had been searching the neighborhood for them after something went down at the A&P over in Seaside - about three miles away.
The kids must have been skipping thru back yards trying to avoid the police...and walked right into them.
I've got to get out of New Jersey.
An F-14 training in South Jersey fired 40 rounds of something (probably 20mm) into the roof and parking lot of the Little Egg Harbor elementary school.
No one was hurt.
